Starting a Conversation

My first blog post! To briefly introduce myself, my name is Sam and I’m an artist. I’m starting this blog because being an artist has a lot of ups and downs and I find that the definition of artist and art never stops changing for me. I’d like somewhere to share these reflections. I thought it would be best if I shared this on my own website, because ultimately I want my website to not just be a portfolio, but really be an extension to my art. 

Personally, I find a lot of beauty in the processes and experiences that create and form art and I feel like I haven’t had too many chances to share this either. Of course there’s the more obvious path of social media to do all of this, but I’ve found that I have a difficult time really conveying what I want to on social media. There’s a lot of power of sharing on your own website, in your own space. Creatively, I have lots of control to display and speak about my work how I’d like to. It also seems a lot more comfortable and natural for me. Also, I’ve always had a fascination with the internet and websites that I want to explore further as well. 

Art is something that I always take seriously and is always a present thought in everything I do, yet I haven’t really developed a good way to share all of this. So, really I want this blog to be a jumping off point to fix that. I’m not sure exactly how that all will take form. Right now, I’m going to follow a journal-esque vibe that feels fitting to how I’ve personally developed my art so far. I’m excited to keep yapping and creating! Stay tuned :)
